Lean Too and the Southland District Council.
The Lean Too was built for us to use as storage, we had resourse consent and permission from the neighbour to build on the boundary. The Council made us pull it down. It cost money to build and more to pull it down and repair the end of the building. It does not make any sense to me in any other instance they would have requested that you obtain a certificate of approval, but not this time.
It was suggested to us by the Council, that there was no plans provided for the Lean Too,, but there were plans, and they have somehow dissapeared,, We off course would not have been able to get resource consent with out plans,,, Anyway we had the house signed up so could not fight to keep the lean too, so it is pulled down, and taken to the council dump, on the large trailer, so you know how much that cost me.

The Council said that our lean too was a fire hazard,, that is why it needed to be pulled down,, we used ours for push bikes, lawn mower and garden tools,, the neigbour of course has dry firewood, I dont know how much of a fire hazard that is,!!! they must have thought one of my bikes was gonna burst into flames, There are quite a few of these structures around Te Anau,, mostly are used for storage of firewood, thats what we would have used ours for if we had a fire,,
